The TORCH program is an academic intervention program created for the students attending Lady Liberty Academy Charter School. Based on last year's New Jersey ASK scores many students have been identified as students who could benefit from additional academic support during an extended day program. Our goal is to close the achievement gap by 20% in both Language Arts and Math by providing rigorous interventions for all eligible students.

We will be implementing the Torch Program under (Title 1) starting Monday January 25, 2010. This program is designed to support and provide interventions for students who did not reach proficiency on the NJ ASK State Examination. In addition, we will be instituting the Helping Hands Homework Help. This program is designed to provide additional assistance in mastering concepts that were taught during the regular school day.

We are requiring that students be present from 4pm to 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A snack will be provided and we are asking that parents provide transportation home at 6pm.

This program will run through May 2010. There will be an incentive program for students who attend the program everyday and put forth effective effort. We know that when we work together, students will have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
